Alternative Film Posters

Below I am presenting some of my favourite alternative film posters, which also includes a poster to Home Alone, a quintessential Christmas film. Do you like “film art”? What are your favourite alternative film posters?

I. The “House Architecture” Posters

These are some of my favourite alternative film posters and they often get quite intricate. They work best when a story in a film revolves around one house, but also when there are “layers” to a film story, as in the case of Inception below.

Inception by Chris Skinner
Home Alone by Adam Simpson
Parasite by Marie Bergeron
Psycho by Unknown

II. The “World-Building” Posters

Film posters that showcase another world can be simply stunning. Often these are films with a world drastically different from our own (The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter), but these posters may also show eccentric protagonists who live in our world, but whose perceptions and viewpoints of it are slightly different from our own, as the Amelie poster below exemplifies.

Amelie by Ise Ananphada
The Fifth Element by Chris Skinner

III. “The Shawshank Redemption” Posters

Since The Shawshank Redemption probably has the biggest fanbase ever, it is no wonder we are seeing real gems in artwork regarding this film.

The Shawshank Redemption by Irwin
The Shawshank Redemption by Amien Juugo
The Shawshank Redemption by Alberto N.

IV. Other

2001A Space Odyssey by Yvan Quinet
Apocalypse Now by Laurent Durieux

LeonThe Professional by Neil Davies
Parasite by Andrew Bannister

Interesting post! Personally, I prefer the film posters that look more like pieces of art. These types of posters are not only creative, but they also capture the spirit of the movie. By the way, I tagged you for the 12 Delights of Christmas Tag! Here’s the link to my post:

  5. The bottom Parasite poster looks good but it feels like too big of a clue for one of the best reveals in the film.
