To celebrate the 93th birthday of the legendary film composer John Williams, I would like to share his film score for Hook (1991) directed by Steven Spielberg, and starring Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman in the lead roles. I believe this score is quite underrated and underappreciated in comparison to his better known work. Born on 8 February 1932, Williams is known for his collaboration with Steven Spielberg, and for film scores to such films as Jaws, Star Wars, Home Alone, E. T., Schindler’s List, and Harry Potter, among others. Like so many other work examples of his, the Hook score captures the full wonder and innocence of childhood, a sense of the ultimate adventure, and a strive to overcome challenges. Williams’s music always pulls you into a story and a film from the very first notes, and so many popular films would just not be the same without his musical contribution. Happy Birthday, Maestro!
One of my favourite scores from this legend. Such an underrated film.

Isn’t it? I love everything about it even those bits that some consider “tacky”. Robin Williams also smashed it.
